Gong is a percussion instrument originating in East Asia and Southeast Asia. Gongs are a flat, circular metal disc that is typically struck with a mallet. Mainly gong is struck in the centre with a felt or a leather beater, producing a divine sound of either definite or indefinite pitch. Its vibrations issue from the centre, in contrast to the singing bowls, which vibrate mainly at the rim.
