History of Tibetan Singing Bowls

Tibetan singing bowls have a rich history rooted in ancient spiritual and healing practices. These metal singing bowls, widely known for their healing harmonic overtones and meditative sounds, are believed to have originated over 2,000 years ago. These metal bowls also known as Himalayan bowls, which produce soothing, resonant sounds when struck or played with a striker, have been used for sound baths, reiki, yoga, spiritual, meditative, and healing purposes in various cultures.

They are believed to have originated in the Himalayan regions, particularly Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and India. Tibetan monks and Buddhist practitioners have long used sound as a tool for meditation and spiritual ceremonies.

Traditionally, these metal bowls were made from an alloy of seven metals, each believed to represent a celestial body:

Gold (Sun)
Silver (Moon)
Mercury (Mercury)
Copper (Venus)
Iron (Mars)
Tin (Jupiter)
Lead (Saturn)

In recent times, Singing bowls have been widely used in sound therapy, meditation, and holistic healing practices. Many people believe that the vibrations produced by the bowls help balance Chakras, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. The bowls are used in sound baths, Reiki, and other forms of energy healing.

Today, singing bowls are great tools used by meditation practitioners, yoga teachers, and sound practitioners. Their calming tones and healing vibrations have made them popular in wellness communities.
